All-queen ant species discovered in Japan, reproduces without males

Researchers in Japan have confirmed that the parasitic ant Temnothorax kinomurai consists only of queens, lacking both workers and males. The species reproduces asexually, producing clones from unfertilised eggs. It survives by infiltrating colonies of a related species and tricking host workers into killing their queen, which is considered a rare behaviour in ant societies.
