Supreme Court has said all women are entitled to safe and legal abortion. "Single and unmarried women have right to abort under Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act and rules till 24 weeks of pregnancy," the court stated. "Distinction between married and unmarried women is constitutionally unsustainable, it perpetuates stereotype that only married women indulge in sexual activities," it added.
