Allahabad High Court bars hookah in all UP restaurants

Allahabad High Court has barred all restaurants in Uttar Pradesh from operating hookah bars, calling it a "flagrant violation" of Prohibition of Smoking in Public Places Rules and Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act. The Court said hookah is absolutely impermissible even in designated smoking areas. It cited the right of a non-smoker to breathe clean air behind the move.
