The Supreme Court said allowing investigating agencies and police to summon defence counsel or advocates who advise parties in a given case undermines the autonomy of the legal profession and constitutes a direct threat to the independence of the administration of justice. The court said this matter is prima facie "untenable" and is subject to further consideration by the court.
