Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta and Microsoft have notified the European Commission that they qualify as gatekeepers under new EU tech rules, EU industry chief Thierry Breton said. TikTok owner ByteDance and Samsung also claimed they meet the threshold. Under Digital Markets Act, firms with over 45 million monthly active users and a market capitalisation of €75 billion are considered gatekeepers.
