Amazon on Tuesday confirmed that it'll fire 14,000 employees as part of "organisational changes" and will be informing the affected employees within 24 hours. It claimed the layoffs are being caused by technological transformations borne of AI, which are forcing the company to be "organised more leanly". It said it may continue layoffs in 2026 while also hiring new employees.
