World's richest man Jeff Bezos-led Amazon has donated $1 million to Wikimedia Endowment, a permanent fund run by Wikipedia parent Wikimedia. "The Alexa team shares a similar vision with Wikipedia and the Wikimedia Foundation: To make it easier to share knowledge globally," Amazon said in a statement. Launched in 2016, the fund ensures the online encyclopedia's lasting independence from influence.
