Amazon employees have uncovered "catastrophically expensive" AI deployment mistakes, the Financial Times reported. One failed Claude Sonnet project, designed to match author details with Amazon listings, generated a $1.8 million (around ₹17 crore) bill, 860% over its allocated budget. The costly overspend remained undetected for nearly five months before it was discovered.
