Amazon rainforest deforestation hits highest level in 10 yrs

Deforestation of the Amazon rainforest has reached its highest level in a decade, as per official data released by the Brazil government. Around 7,900 square kilometres of the Amazon rainforest was destroyed between August 2017 and July 2018, the data revealed citing satellite imagery. Brazil said that illegal logging was the main factor behind the increase in deforestation.
