American scientists turn carbon dioxide into fuel
short by Rini Kapoor / on Tuesday, 1 November, 2016
US-based scientists have accidentally discovered a method to turn carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, into ethanol, a renewable fuel. The waste-to-fuel technology works through an electrochemical reaction with a 63% yield, and uses a single catalyst made of copper nanoparticles embedded in carbon spikes. Researchers believe the technology could be scaled up for industry level applications in future.
