Ancestors of whales walked on four legs on Indian riverbanks

About 50 million years ago, ancestors of the world's largest mammals walked on the banks of lakes and rivers in what is now Pakistan and India, according to UK's Natural History Museum. Called Pakicetus, the four-legged goat-sized creature evolved to have flippers and tiny hind legs living entirely in water, which then developed into the present-day blue whales.
