Angel Di María thanks Messi for choosing Argentina when he could have represented Spain

Ex-Argentina winger Ángel Di María paid tribute to Lionel Messi after his retirement from international football. "We'll be grateful to you...for being Argentine, for taking Argentina to top of the world. For choosing to be Argentine when you could easily have chosen something else," he wrote. Spain had approached Messi after he obtained Spanish citizenship in 2005.
