Ram Gopal Varma, who backed the recently-released 'Animal', said the movie is the "most original film in Indian cinema's history". Varma also said that the film reminded him of Martin Scorsese’s 'The Wolf of Wall Street'. He also described Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga as 'the highly commercial version of Anurag Kashyap'. The film has grossed over ₹750 crore worldwide.
