Antarctica’s ‘doomsday glacier’ may raise sea levels twice as much as predicted: Study
A study in Nature Communications found that Antarctica’s Thwaites Glacier, also called ‘doomsday glacier’, may be melting twice as fast as previously predicted. Scientists discovered warm ocean water penetrating miles beneath the ice, weakening its foundation. Its melting could raise global sea levels by up to 30 millimetres by 2100, double earlier projections, even without global warming.
