Anthropic is considering designing its own AI chips amid a shortage of chips needed to power advanced AI systems, Reuters reported. Designing an advanced AI chip can cost roughly half a billion dollars, as per industry experts. The startup, whose run-rate revenue crossed $30 billion in 2026, may still decide to buy chips rather than designing them.
