Anthropic has launched a think tank, called 'Anthropic Institute', to study the impact of powerful AI systems. It will focus on areas such as economic development, governance and AI "values". The move comes amid Anthropic's legal fight with the Pentagon, which blacklisted the startup after it refused to allow its AI to be used for autonomous weapons or domestic surveillance.
