Anthropic's AI agents uncover new tool that could help alter DNA

Anthropic said its AI agents have discovered an enzyme system hidden in the DNA of bacteriophages (viruses that infect bacteria). Roughly 950 Claude agents spent 21 hours searching a massive database of DNA sequences to identify it, Anthropic claimed. The system has features reminiscent of CRISPR, a technology scientists use to modify DNA, although its function is not yet known.
