President Droupadi Murmu has given assent to the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, turning it into law. The legislation increases punishment for individuals using unfair means to five to 10 years in jail and fines up to ₹50 lakh. It also mandates two-month investigations and three-month trials through special fast-track courts for paper leak cases.
