From September 1, app-based cab services in Maharashtra will operate under stricter rules aimed at curbing overcharging and ride refusals. Aggregators must follow regulated fares, limit surge pricing to 1.5 times the base fare, provide stronger passenger safety measures and ensure drivers receive at least 80% of the fare. Companies failing to comply with the new rules could face suspension.
