Five of the US market's technology giants - Apple, Microsoft, Google parent Alphabet, Amazon and Facebook parent Meta Platforms - added $2.5 trillion to their market value in 2021. Shares of Google's parent company surged 65% in the year, while that of Microsoft surged 51%. Shares of iPhone maker rose 34%, taking its market capitalisation to nearly $3 trillion.
