Apple has confirmed that devices leased through its new Apple Upgrade programme will not be locked or placed into restricted mode if customers miss payments, despite earlier speculation from iOS 27 beta code. However, customers who miss three consecutive payments may have their lease terminated and could be required to clear the remaining balance. The programme is currently available only in US.
