Apple hires Google's AI chief a day after he stepped down

Apple has hired John Giannandrea to run the technology giant's machine learning and AI strategy. This comes a day after Giannandrea announced he stepped down from his post as Google's chief of search and artificial intelligence (AI) units. Apple said Giannandrea will become one of the 16 executives who report directly to the company's CEO Tim Cook.
