A government official has said that Apple's demand for tax exemptions to manufacture in India were rejected by the Finance ministry as the decision can only be taken by the goods and services tax (GST) council. The technology major had sought concessions such as duty exemption on manufacturing and repair units, components, and capital equipment for smartphones for 15 years.
