Are cavities in children and antibiotics related?
short by / on Monday, 9 June, 2025
Frequent exposure to sugar-based liquid antibiotics can disturb oral microflora and increase cariogenic risks in children, particularly when administered during critical enamel development stages. Tetracyclines may also cause permanent tooth discolouration. Don’t let sweet meds sour your child’s smile. Choose sugar-free antibiotics, avoid night-time doses, and follow up with good brushing.
