The Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA) said that the area under soybean cultivation could rise by around 5-7% across India this kharif season, depending on favourable monsoon conditions. Soybean cultivation took place on 120 lakh hectares and yielded around 105 lakh tonne last year. The oilseed was trading at ₹7,620 per quintal on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange.
