The Northern Command of Indian Army has received the first batch of 10,000 newly acquired SIG 716 assault rifles supplied by American arms maker Sig Sauer, according to reports. The Northern Command looks after the counter-terrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir. India had signed an over ₹700 crore contract to equip the armed forces with over 72,000 new assault rifles.
