Supreme Court invoked Article 142 to ensure justice in the recently held Chandigarh mayor elections. Article 142 gives power to the court to give complete justice in any case where even a law or statute fails to provide remedy. Supreme Court used this power to quash the election result & declared Kuldeep Kumar as the validly elected candidate.
