The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has ruled that Article 370, which grants special status to the state, is a permanent provision of the Constitution and cannot be "abrogated, repealed or even amended". A bench of Justices Hasnain Masoodi and Janak Raj Kotwal also said that Article 35A serves as "protection" to the existing laws in the state.
