Artificial sweeteners' side effects may pass on to next gen: Study

A study showed that artificial sweeteners like stevia and sucralose have negative effects on gut microbiome and gene expression, potentially interfering with metabolism, which can be transmitted between generations. The study in 47 mice found that changes included altered glucose tolerance and inflammation-related genes. Sucralose showed longer-lasting impacts and stevia had smaller impacts.
