Assam Forest Department has started DNA profiling of 2,573 rhino horn samples stored after the 2021 mass destruction. Conducted at Kaziranga, the samples are now sent to Wildlife Institute of India for analysis under the RhoDIS India program. The effort will boost wildlife forensics, aid rhino crime investigations, and help monitor India’s rhino genetic diversity for better conservation.
