The Assam cabinet on Friday cleared a 2% hike in dearness allowance for state government employees and pensioners, raising it from 58% to 60%. The hike will benefit more than 8 lakh state government employees and pensioners. The cabinet also cleared 20 square kilometres of land for the second-capital complex being planned in Dibrugarh at a budget of ₹500 crore.
