Asteroid as big as 3 football fields to make closest-known approach to Earth in 2029

NASA's OSIRIS-APEX mission will study asteroid Apophis during its close flyby of Earth on April 13, 2029. The asteroid is about 340 metres wide, roughly the size of three football fields and about as tall as the Eiffel Tower. It will pass about 35,000 km from Earth, marking the closest known advance-observed approach by an asteroid of its size.
