Astronauts who spend 90+ days in space have higher rate of hip fractures: Study

Astronauts who spend more than 90 days in space have a higher rate of hip fractures after returning to Earth, a study led by NASA's Jean D Sibonga found. Researchers analysed fracture records of US-based astronauts using Bayesian modelling and found that hip fractures also occurred at younger ages than expected. NASA is expanding bone monitoring, including quantitative CT scans.
