Australia on Tuesday experienced its hottest day on record with an average maximum temperature of 40.9℃ across the country, according to data released by the Bureau of Meteorology. The temperature beat the previous 40.3℃ record set on January 7, 2013. The soaring temperature was recorded as wildfires continue to burn across the country's New South Wales (NSW) state.
