A third-year textbook of Maharashtra University's Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) teaches students the procedure to conceive a baby boy. The text, copied from Charaka Samhita, the pre-2nd century CE compilation on Ayurveda, gives various methods of achieving the same, including consuming a mixture of Banyan tree branches, urad dal, mustard seeds and curd.
