B'desh to hold presidential election today, 1st contested poll in 35 yrs

Bangladesh lawmakers are set to vote for a new President on Thursday, marking the first such election in 35 years. Voting will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. They will choose between ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party stalwart Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 11-party opposition alliance candidate Colonel (retd) Oli Ahmed.
