A baby hippo bravely defended its mother from lion's attack during a drought in South Africa's Kruger National Park. Despite being clawed, the calf returned to protect her. The lion backed off and walked away from the scene. Though they escaped the predator, both hippos sadly didn’t survive the harsh drought conditions that had already pushed them to the brink.
