Legendary mountaineer Bachendri Pal, now 70, the first Indian woman to summit Mt Everest, celebrated the 40th anniversary of the landmark 1984 expedition by trekking up to the Everest Base Camp on May 23, 2024. Many people joined this climb to "re-live" the expedition. Brigadier (retd) Darshan Kumar Khullar, leader of the 1984 team, came to give his blessing.
