The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recommended a ban on smartphones in schools worldwide. A UNESCO report said there was proof that excessive use of mobile phones is linked to reduced educational performance. Technology's use "must be for enhanced learning experiences and for the wellbeing of students and teachers, not to their detriment", UNESCO said.
