Kolkata Municipal Commissioner Dhaval Jain has sent directives to the city's business and commercial establishments to include Bangla (Bengali) on the signboards at the top in a prominent size by September 30. The initiative is aimed to "promote and preserve linguistic heritage of Bengal". Kolkata Municipal Corporation had first issued such guidelines on December 30, 2024.
