Bangladesh dengue toll hits 239, over 77,000 hospitalised in 2026

Bangladesh reported six more dengue deaths and 1,942 new hospitalisations in 24 hours, taking the 2026 toll to 239. Since January, 77,672 patients have been hospitalised, and 72,008 have recovered. Health experts have called for sustained mosquito control, cleanliness drives and public awareness as Aedes mosquitoes spread beyond urban areas and repeated infections complicate control efforts.
