Abolhassan Banisadr, Iran's first President after the 1979 Islamic revolution, passed away in France on Saturday at the age of 88. Banisadr had become Iran's President in 1980 but left the country for France after his impeachment in 1981. Banisadr's family said in a statement online that he died in a hospital in Paris after a long illness.
