Barabar Caves: The temple of extinct Ajivikas

The Barabar Caves, dating back to 5th century BCE, are the oldest rock-cut caves in India. These seven caves were originally constructed under the Mauryan king Ashoka for the Ajivikas sect. Later, they were used by Buddhists, Jains, and Hindus, and today serve as a historical and religious tourist destination and have a particular architectural and cultural significance.
