Barclays appointed Alistair Currie as its Chief Operating Officer (COO) and he will replace Mark Ashton-Rigby. Currie earlier headed the bank's consumer banking and payments business and Vim Maru will now replace him in that role. The changes come at a time when Barclays' India-born CEO CS Venkatakrishnan said last month he will undergo 12-16 weeks of cancer treatment.
