Barclays to cut 5,000 jobs

Barclays on Thursday revealed plans to cut around 5,000 jobs, amounting to 5% of its global workforce. The British bank said 1,000 positions had already been closed, with another 4,000 cuts expected by the end of 2026. Barclays attributed the reductions to technology investments, saying AI has made some work processes more efficient.
