short by Saurav Joshi / on Monday, 26 January, 2026
Bareilly City Magistrate Alankar Agnihotri resigned over UGC’s Equality Act regulations, and administrative action taken against Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati's disciples. Alankar said UGC regulations would increase harassment against brahmins. He claimed the disciples were dragged by their hair and assaulted while bathing on Mauni Amavasya, calling it an attack on Sanatan.
