In a unique initiative, perhaps the first of its kind in the state, the panchayat of Balloh village in Bathinda district conferred the "Best Mother-in-law Award" on six elderly women today in a bid to promote harmony in families and strengthen the bond between mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law. The awards were presented at a function organised to mark International Women's Day.
