Bats detect small insects when the insects form swarms: Study

A new study has found that small insects that would normally be undetectable to bats using echolocation become detectable when they occur in large swarms. The researchers discovered that bats use a feature of echolocation signals called Quasi Constant Frequency that helps detect an object if more than one target is inside the signal beam at once.
