The 'Battle of Plassey' was fought between Colonel Robert Clive-led British East India Company and Nawab of Bengal Siraj-ud-Daulah on June 23, 1757, at Plassey in Bengal. Defeating the Nawab and his French allies, the battle laid a foundation of the British rule in India, which eventually expanded and lasted for around 200 years.
