Beaches in Israel have been covered in tar which is thought to have come from a ship spilling oil. The general population has been told to avoid the beaches, with thousands of volunteers and soldiers helping to clear the pollutant which is damaging wildlife. Environmental groups called it a disaster as they posted pictures of tar-covered turtles.
